Watch The 2021 Porsche America Parade In Indiana

The 65th Porsche parade saw cars and attendees flock to Indiana to connect with like-minded enthusiasts and, above all, share appreciation for their cars as one big family.

Automotive enthusiasts share a passion driven by a community of individuals dedicated to brands that spark a smile every time they get behind the wheel. It’s a feeling that seems to be shared by all Porsche owners, which is the main inspiration for the Porsche America Parade. In a video released to the Porsche Youtube channel, the passion of the German automotive brand is captured during the 2021 Porsche America Parade in Indiana. The event features over 900 Porsche examples with 2,000 plus owners and enthusiasts in attendance.

The stories shared throughout the event explain that the backgrounds of the owners are just as different as the vehicles they drive, but the common interest is in the way that Porsche continues to impact their lives. Whether it’s a memory of a family vehicle or a father and son bond, the Porsche family accepts anyone looking to talk cars while enjoying each other’s company. The Porsche America Parade is a proud community of members based in both the United States and Canada looking to expand through events and long drives. Coastal Drive Madness! A Gallery of Ads Featuring Cars at the Ocean

1940 Lincoln Zephyr, Cars at the Ocean

As Collectible Automobile Editor-in-Chief John Biel has pointed out, a good number of vintage car ads were staged alongside swimming pools. As a swimmer, I appreciate the positive association between aquatic fun and cool new cars. But pools aren’t the only bodies of water automakers liked to feature in their advertising.

We’ve shared ads featuring cars at the beach, and this time we’re taking things to the coast—to the ocean. Not only does the ocean—on whatever coast you find it—make for a scenic backdrop, it’s also evocative of travel, adventure, and the untamable wilderness.

For your consideration, we’ve collected more than a dozen classic car ads, all featuring coastal backdrops. And, as the for Chevrolet commercial above, that is indeed the Casey Kasem doing the voiceover.

Why to Buy the 2016 Porsche 911 R

When the Porsche 911 R broke cover back in 2016, it stunned with a relatively simple formula. For starters, it featured the naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter engine out of the GT3 RS. However, the 911 R weighed significantly less than its track-oriented sibling. However, the most significant change was adding a six-speed manual transmission, a forbidden option for the GT3 RS.

In total, the flat-six engine produced 500 hp and 338 lb-ft, enough to rocket the 911 R to 60 mph in 3.7 and on to a top speed of 200 mph. A pair of 16.1-inch carbon-ceramic brake rotors and smaller 15.4-inch ones in the rear help keep that speed in check.

To put its lightweight sports car on a diet, Porsche doubled down on its use of molded carbon fiber throughout. This includes the front, the front lid, fenders, and the backs of the bucket seats. A set of 20-inch forged wheels and a magnesium roof also brings the weight down.

However, the most drastic change was removing the A/C system, speakers, and rear seats. Those items were available as optional extras if you want a more livable sports car.

With just 991 units ever produced, the 911 R is one of the rarest sports cars Porsche has ever made. Back in 2016, you got first dibs at a 911 R if you had already purchased the brand’s hypercar of the time, the 918 Spyder. The 911 R’s $185,950 starting price quickly vanished once the car hit the used market, selling for well over $450,000.

At the time of writing, five examples of the 2016 911 R are listed for sale on duPontREGISTRY.com, two of which have less than 200 miles on the clock. Check them out below.
