Amazing Video: Watch The Detailed, Involved, and Super Interesting Process Of Building A Tiny Connecting Rod!

We have long loved videos featuring miniature engines around here. The craftsmanship, the time, the precision, and the creativity that go into them are all great things. Normally great things executed by retired old guys who have the patience and time to really flex those muscles but still, they’re great. This series of videos shows a guy (well at least his hands and arms) building a scratch designed miniature engine and this one is all about building the one little rod that goes into the engine. When we mean little, we mean like you cold get 30 of these in one handful type of small. It is an amazingly detailed process that all takes place in a little home shop with mostly tabletop machining tools.

Sure, in 20 years guys will just be 3D printing these parts or maybe there will be a $300 table top CNC machine to use at hom but for now it takes smarts, plenty of measuring, plenty of minute machining, and skills to turn out a piece like this.

Rather than continue to blabber, we’ll just tell you to watch the video below. THIS is some really fun machining and fabrication work done on a small scale!

2021 Pigeon Forge Rod Run Photo Coverage: Our Image Onslaught Continues – Freaks, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Trucks, and More!

(Photos by Ted Bixby) – Our photo onslaught from the 2021 Pigeon Forge Rod Run continues with this virtual walk around of outdoor cars on display. We have taken you through the indoor pavilion and now we’ve ventured outside to check out the stuff in that area of this massive event. You will see that Ted Bixby, the man who carried his picture taker around, saw some really interesting stuff and decided to share it with you. The lead photo is the most freakishly awesome thing that this entire event has delivered us so far and while it must run and drive, it is definitely the product of the builder’s fever dream of an engineering concept. We dig it.

Is it us or do 1990s style street rods no longer have a kind of unintentional humor to them and have begun that aging process where they will eventually be seen as cool again? It’s funny. It’s probably because we’re getting old but some cars in here that we would have been unable to look at have us going back for a second peek.

This show was awesome.

Awesomely Weird: This 1970s Chevrolet Parts Film Stars Evel Knievel And Literally Makes No Sense

Awesomely Weird: This 1970s Chevrolet Parts Film Stars Evel Knievel And Literally Makes No Sense

We’re guessing someone lost their job for this one. You are going to watch this 1970s Chevrolet parts film which stars Evel Knivel and makes literally no sense at all. The theme of the film is “conflict” and it is illustrated by a series of scenes where animals eat other animals, black and white movies are shown, and Evel Knievel jumps stuff on his motorcycle, sometimes crashing, sometimes not. Throw in a dose of 1970s Anchoman-level hilarity with a bikini-clad woman, and you have yourself one of the most singular odd things we have ever seen.

Make no mistake, Knievel would never turn down a gig, especially one with Chevrolet that likely was a great payday for reading some cue-cards. The company definitely did not hire him for his suave acting ability because this dude is straight up stiff while narrating the action. By action, we mean the bizarre things we are shown on screen.

Oddly, while Chevrolet parts are mentioned a handful of times there’s barely (if ever) a Chevrolet car shown as a prop in the film. This whole thing is some weirdo theater of the mind that was likely schemed up by an executive’s kid. “Hey Johnson, get my son a job in the media department and let him run wild!”

Obviously, Knievel was majorly famous at this point and his star only grew bigger. Note that he mentions that someday, “I’ll jump a mile….” we all know how that quest ended.

You have to see this one to believe it.
