FREE LIVE STREAMING VIDEO FROM ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACE WEEK 2.0 STARTS SUNDAY!!!

It’s time for 1320Video Race Week 2.0 Presented by Motion Raceworks and that means one of the baddest drag and drive events on the planet is going to kick off Sunday evening LIVE from Thunder Valley in Noble Oklahoma. We’ll have live streaming video of each day’s racing action from Sunday through Thursday nights as racing will start at 3pm Central each day and continue until at least 10pm each night. Racers will be driving from track to track during the morning hours and have an interesting route that will take them from Thunder Valley to the Texas Motorplex and on to Tulsa Raceway Park. After that they will head north to Mid America Dragway and then south to Thunder Valley to wrap up 5 days of racing, driving, and surviving. The top finishers will take home real money, and will have bragging rights for next year.

Along the way we’ll be stopping at cool checkpoints, having fun on the road, and undoubtedly tearing stuff up and having to fix it in random parking lots and on roadsides. But that is all part of it, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our live streaming coverage will be on each night from 3pm until the last car goes down the track and that coverage will start Sunday evening.

Stay tuned for links to all the action!

Scary Flamin’ Video: Watch This Mustang Grudge Car Smash The Wall And Erupt Into Flames (Driver Walks Away)

Scary Flamin’ Video: Watch This Mustang Grudge Car Smash The Wall And Erupt Into Flames (Driver Walks Away)

There’s nothing scarier than fire in a race car. Nothing. That’s something being said by an announcer, not even a person who has to be front and center when their whole world looks like the inside of the freaking sun. Of course I’m saying that because of how this video plays out. Shot at the recent Carolina No/Time event at GALOT Motorsports Park in North Carolina, we’re going to see a magnificent looking Fox style Mustang that packs a massive nitrous engine hammer the wall with incredible force and then erupt into flames and look like Ghost Rider’s taxi.

The good news here is that the driver opens the door and climbs out himself. You can tell that the dude is banged up though as he nearly drops to his knees the moment he escapes the flaming hell he was sitting in. So what happened here?

Drag racing happened. This is not a no-prep event, it is a no-time event. So don’t go flapping your gums about the dangers of no prep racing. This was a deal where the guy likely had some decent money on the line and knew that if he was going to beat his opponent he was going to need to bring the power in plenty early and really lean on it. Well, the power came in but the traction went away. It seems like the dude may have stood in on the gas again as the car was crossing the track because the impact to the front corner on the driver’s side is brutally harsh.

That impact breaks the fuel cell which causes the flaming trail of fuel and kicks off the initial inferno. We’re guessing the electric fuel pump keeps the party going for a minute before the safety crew starts hosing the car down with fire suppressant. We hope that the driver makes a full recovery and we hope that the car is repaired. That thing was seriously freaking beautiful.

NHRA Insider Podcast: A Thinking Man’s Game – Mark Ingersoll and Johnny Labbous Jr

NHRA Insider Podcast: A Thinking Man’s Game – Mark Ingersoll and Johnny Labbous Jr

This episode of the NHRA Insider Podcast features interviews with Mark Ingersoll who serves as crew chief for Erica Enders’ car in the NHRA Camping World pro stock category and ace sportsman racer Johnny Labbous Jr. who has been racking up national event wins and is chasing another world championship.

Ingersoll talks of the challenges the team has been working through this season and the attack they took at Norwalk which lead them to a victory over Greg Anderson who had a very strong race car. The talk turns to tech, Ingersoll’s decorated history in the sport, and a whole lot more.

John Labbous Jr has been on one heck of a streak lately. A Super Gas win in Epping followed by a Super Comp win in Norwalk has rekindled Labbous in many ways and he talks about it here. He also talks about the difficulties of racing for a living, how tight the competition is, and how “doing homework” is one of the hidden strategic points of bracket racing premier racers like him focus on. Great stuff from inside the world of drag racing here!
